Assessment for Giftedness

Assessment for giftedness provides a profile of learning preferences and helps to plan individual learning programs and make informed decisions about individual learning styles and strategies.

Assessment for giftedness includes:

  1. A standardised cognitive test (WISC-IV, WAIS-IV or WPPSI-III)
  2. An an achievement test (WIAT-II Australian - ages: 4 years and over)
    and
  3. A Gifted Rating Scale (GRS)

The results from this assessment will reveal whether or not your child is gifted and, if so, in which domains.

Cognitive testing will reveal strengths in:

  • Processing speed
  • Auditory processing
  • Verbal processing
  • Non-verbal processing
  • Fluid reasoning
  • Working memory

Achievement testing will assess processing skills in key areas such as:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spelling
  • Mathematics
  • Oral language

The Gifted Rating Scale will assess a broad range of skills including:

  • Intellectual
  • Academic
  • Motivation
  • Creativitiy
  • Leadership
  • Artistic talent

Assessment tools used:

  • WISC-IV Australian (ages: 6 years to 16 years 11 months)

OR

  • WPPSI-III Australian (ages: 2 years 6 months to 7 years 3 months)

OR

  •  WAIS-IV Australian (ages: 16 years to 90 years)

AND

  • WIAT-II Australian (ages: 4 years and over)

AND

  • GRS-P (ages: 4 years to 6 years 11 months)

OR

  • GRS-S (ages: 6 years to 13 years 11 months)

Assessment time: 2 x 1 to 1.5 hours

Cost: $950.00
NB: A deposit of $200 is required at the time of booking.

  • Cognitive assessment session
  • Achievement assessment session
  • Review and analysis of teacher gifted rating form
  • Detailed report with specific recommendations
  • Feedback session with parents (20-30 minutes)

Medicare rebates

Please note that Medicare rebates are not available for psychological assessment. You may be able to claim a rebate for a "long consultation" from your private health insurance provider. Please check this directly with your provider.
