Headshot of Deborah JepsenDear Parent,

My name is Deborah Jepsen and I'm an experienced Child Psychologist, specialising in Educational and Developmental Psychology.

I'm the owner and principal psychologist of School Psychology Services, located in Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia.

Are you looking for a child psychologist to help your child with a specific issue?

I can help your child with many different academic and personal challenges, including:

  • Emotional issues, such as anxiety, depression, anger management, relaxation and stress management
  • Thinking skills - critical thinking, problem analysis and creative solutions
  • Study skills - techniques and strategies for improved learning and study
  • Learning disabilities, such as dyslexia and other specific learning disorders
  • Intellectual issues, such as assessing giftedness, applying for special needs funding or special consideration
  • Social issues, such as friendship problems, bullying and relationship difficulties
  • And many more...

I mainly work with children from pre-school through to year 12, although I sometimes work with young adults in their early years of tertiary study.

Why you should see a qualified psychologist

In Australia all practicing psychologists must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. This means that certain minimum professional standards must be achieved and maintained - including qualifications, supervised experience, continuing professional development and ethics.

My main qualifications and professional memberships include:

Here are three good reasons to book an appointment with me today:

  1. Because you'll receive professional psychological services, delivered ethically and soundly based on the weight of scientific research evidence and/or clinical experience.
  2. Because your child will learn vital skills that they can use to overcome challenges and work towards reaching their true potential -- academically and personally.
  3. Because the right psychological interventions, when applied EARLY enough, can make a dramatic difference to your child's wellbeing and learning outcomes.

How I can help you and your child

These two key services are particularly effective in combination:

  1. Psychological Assessment
    and
  2. Practical, Solution-Focused Counselling

The insights gained from assessment are used to inform and direct counselling sessions. This allows me to target your child's specific strengths and weaknesses in a much more precise way than would otherwise be possible.

Here's some brief information about each of these two key services...

1. Psychological Assessment

Assessment objectively measures your child's cognitive abilities, revealing underlying strengths and weaknesses and providing a direction for targeted individual learning programs and strategies for school and home.

With each Educational Assessment you'll receive a detailed list of learning and behavioural recommendations specifically tailored for your child.

You can immediately apply this information to boost learning effectiveness and improve social outcomes at school and at home.

Assessment is also helpful for:
